HDR Close up photography on Galaxy S2 Camera

Below is an example of closeup photography using the Galaxy S2. For this image, I've taken a photo in full resolution, cropped the area I wanted to get a close-up, and post-processed in Photoshop using HDR settings to subtly enhance the colour.

As previously discussed, you will often have better results if you take a photo from further back, and crop, instead of using close up photography with Macro Settings.

  2. I have trouble taking sharp photos with mine. No matter how still I hold the phone/camera, when I touch the shutter button, it moves the camera and blurs the photo. Any suggestions? I'm enjoying your blog, btw.

  3. Hi. I agree with your post. S2's Macro Mode is a hit and miss affair. @_@

With natural lighting and a very firm hand, you just might get lucky.

  7. I just got an SII and the camera is SO frustrating! It is higher megapix than my other phones by far, and even better than my digital camera but it takes the worst pictures of all of them. It is impossible to get a crisp picture! I've tried all sorts of variations with settings flash on/off, autoshake on/of, various fiddling with white balance, contrast etc. (and there is no manual focus option -- just auto, macro, or face detection).

I'm extremely disappointed with this feature of the phone only, but with an 8mp camera on a phone you shouldn't expect to have to lug around both a camera and a phone if you want a decent pic. Any help?
